So a few weeks ago I was kindly invited to a press event in Birmingham at the Flint + Flint Clinic in the Mailbox. Sadly I wasn’t able to go! However the lovely team at Flint+Flint got in touch to see if I wanted to attend my local clinic in Shrewsbury for a complimentary treatment! Of course I said yes with being so gutted I couldn’t make the original event in Birmingham! So I went along to my local Flint + Flint clinic in Shrewsbury located just off The Square in the heart of the town centre, the Shrewsbury clinic boasts six treatment rooms, a nail bar and special event space. This latest addition to the group of ‘anti-spa’ clinics offers the latest in Laser Hair Removal, advanced skin treatments and aesthetic injectable procedures, as well as traditional beauty treatments and an indulgent massage offering.

for me skincare hasn’t ever been a priority for me, I know what an awful blogger/girl/human I am. However I’ve been pretty blessed I guess you could say and I haven’t really had problematic skin. Therefore I haven’t felt the need to really do much with it when it comes to trying all these different skincare lotions and potions. But with this in mind, now I’m getting on a bit I know it’s now time to start giving myself a little more TLC. So when I went along to Flint+Flint I knew I’d get a little more information on what I need to do to look after my skin.

First of all before we go into deep skin chats, let’s discuss the beautiful edgy deco of the clinic. I love myself a quirky instagram-able spot. Trust me, If I’m going somewhere new I will research where has some cute photo opportunities. In the Flint + Flint clinic in Shrewsbury when you first walk in you’re instantly taken away by the beautiful deco! Overall the clinic is very dark, but then the vibrant pops of colour shine through from the furniture and decorations. I WAS OBSESSED.

Now for the treatment, and what I had and how we came to the decision of my treatment. The fun thing, well I say fun because I really enjoyed it. But the amazing part about Flint + Flint they aren’t like any other clinic where they just look or you say what you want doing. They really look after you and look at your skinned recommend exactly what you need or what could be done to improve on your skins appearance. So when you go to a Flint + Flint clinic they will use their skin scanner. The skin scanner will take up to 6 images of your face in a range of different lights. From daylight – true UV, and complexion, this ranges from two you see your skin from the naked eye – right to what it will look like if I was to leave my skin and not look after my skin! (this was scary to see!)
When I had my skin, I was pretty happy with the results, it was what I expected. I had already expressed that my T zone was my main area of concern. However what I did notice was how many freckles I actually have on my face, but for me I’m also ginger so I took this into consideration as I do have fair skin so the sun does affect my instantly. Another problem that I noticed and couldn’t believe was that I had dark circles where my sunglasses would of sat. Chloe (my aesthetician) said this could be due to my glasses being too tight, that they’ve now left this mark under my skin…or that there has been a build up of product over the years which has also resulted in leaving the dark marks either side of my nose! Since seeing this I have been making sure to really exfoliate and cleanse this area of my face. So I can’t wait to go for my follow up skin scan to see if any improvement has been made to these areas!

With us being able to see the areas for improvement for my skin we decided to go for a facial peel!
“Our pharmaceutical grade skin peels promote fresh, healthy skin by gently resurfacing the outer layers of the skin, removing built-up congestion and imperfections. Whether its pigmentation, acne or breakouts, lines and wrinkles, dehydration, enlarged pores, or specific skin complaints like Melasma we have a chemical peel that can help with your concern. There are various types of chemical peels available, each penetrate skin at different levels of the epidermis. Resurfacers or superficial peels work on the very top layers of the epidermis and use enzymes and acids to refine and exfoliate. Skin peels or medium peels are stronger and work deeper to combat more specific skin complaints. Removing the outer layers of dead skin with a chemical preparation, allows new skin cells to come through revealing a dramatically smoother and brighter complexion with fewer imperfections. Naturally derived acids loosen the glue-like attachments or cellular cement that is characteristic of many skin conditions such as ageing, acne, skin discolouration and coarse texture.”
Skin peel treatments can improve the appearance of:
- Enlarged pores
- Lines and wrinkles
- Sun damage and pigmentation
- Uneven skin tone
- Spots and breakouts
- Inflammation and acne
- Mild scars
- Dehydrated and dry skin
- Rosacea

I went for the Salicylic Peel at 10%. I went to appointment make up free…which god felt so good anyway. So the first step was to cleanse my face with the Mesoestetic Hydra Milk Chloe cleansed my face twice with this. We then prepped my skin for the pre procedure prep to allow my skin to allow the ingredient to to penetrate evenly! we then went in with the Salicylic Peel!
the salicylic peel is great to combat oil production, but mainly to congest blocked up pores! Which I so desperately needed for my skin! we left the peel on for roughly 10-15 minutes to allow it to do all the magic my skin needed! Once the peel was taken away Chloe was then able to extract (aka push out some of the blackheads and blockage from my pores) which had already been pushed out just from the use of the peel. To then end the peel, but also to cool my skin back down we used a Mesoestetic sheet mask. This sheet mask…was a cold dream.

Once the sheet mask was removed, Chloe at Flint+Flint gave me the most amazing facial massage ever…that I could of happily gone to sleep. Chloe then put some SPF on to soak into my skin for the rest of the day. From my treatment at Flint+Flint it became a big wake up call and made me realise I need to start wearing SPF more. Yes I have it in my foundation but clearly that isn’t enough. Also seeing the damage that had already been caused made me see why I need to spend that extra 5 minutes before bed to look after my skin. I’d highly recommend going along to Flint+Flint even just for the face scan as it’s free, and being able to see what can be done to your skin to make some dramatic improvements!

So it’s been two weeks since my treatment and what results have I seen? One thing I complained about was the redness in my T zone. This has dramatically reduced since my peel. I still have slight redness in that zone but nothing compared to what it was. My pores have also really been de-clogged for sure! I had my nose pierced years ago! and only now I’ve been able to see the hole again! (how ew.) Over all my skin has become a lot more smoother and looks so much more refreshed and clearer. I’ve since become obsessed with my skincare routine thanks to Flint+Flint and I think facials are going to be my new favourite treats.
