Being size 16 with a small waist but a big old ass can be a real struggle. Even more when it comes to finding a new style of denim jeans. When I first went on the look out for mom jeans and straight fit jeans, I thought I’d never find a pair. I’d either never get them past my thighs, or even sit right on my waist. Especially with them being so on trend and being paired with everything. I really wanted a pair. I do feel like the one thing the ‘plus size’ clothing brands are missing is all of the key denim pieces. A lot of brands are still only really offering a flare which is very old fashioned, or a skinny fit. Which is great and to be fair a lot of plus size girls aren’t too keen on going for any other styles due to them not being “flattering” But girl if you’re reading this right now and you’re a size where you feel a mom jean or straight won’t look good. Go and try a few pairs and find a pair to work for you. Don’t ever be put off a style or trend because of your size.

There’s not harm in going into a number of shops and trying on different styles. yes one style may not be a good fit for you, but never pass anything off straight away.

With this said. I want to share with you all of my favourite places to try for different fit denim, but also my all time favourite hot spots for denim of any styles. Kicking off lets discuss my pair I’m currently wearing in the above shot. PRIMARK! I know Primark get a lot of crap for their sizing, but for me recently with their “New & Improved” sizing I have noticed a huge difference. While some pieces are still not up to scratch, you can’t beat this pair for £13! I did have to get a size 20 in these. Which I usually have to with Primark denim, yet anywhere else I vary from 14-18. But the denim has no stretch at all, therefore I give it it’s due, and also I wouldn’t want them skin tight as they are a straight fit. For me also I don’t care about he number on the label along as I achieve the look I want. If I don’t feel fire in them, then they’re not for me.
Now for my other favourite place to hit up – ASOS. I sometimes get a headache from scrolling ASOS. But it’s well worth it for the gems you can find on there. I do feel like you need to go on there with an aim and know what you want. I always use the search option to really narrow down my options. If not I’ll be there all night. But I’d highly recommend their curve denim section.
RIVERISLAND – With there not actually being many brands on the high street that do collections for sizes 18+ Riverisland is one of the few that offers an exclusive plus range. While their standard collection already goes up to size 18. It’s great that an everyday high street brand is able to cater to all sizes. I’d say river island is also on elf the brands that is keeping all of the plus size collection trendy, and not always mummy clothing which is often done when it comes to plus size clothing.
PLT – I feel like a lot of girls sizes 18-24 won’t really look at pretty little thing. However this is a site I’ve recently been loving. They’re constantly updating the new in section, I also love how they update the new in section by adding in trends of colours. Also being fast fashion they are constantly updating their new in section.
