The other week in the horrendous snow, I somehow managed to get myself into Birmingham for a blogging event. It’s been a while since I’ve attended a local blogging event, either due to work or just not feeling like my blog was in the right place. However Now I’m back and on form with the old blogging game. I knew it was time to go along and show my face again. Also I feel there isn’t enough blogging events around fashion anymore. It’s rare the likes of Missguided, Newlook or Riverisland will host a blog event. Especially finding events in areas other than London is always going to be a challenge within the blogging world.
Anyway onto the event. I was super nervous to attend, unaware I’d actually know a few familiar faces, and some new ones. Maddison is someone I’d be following for a while, and knowing she was local, I loved seeing her shots in and around Birmingham. We decided to meet before the event to give each other some moral support. She also was so lovely in person and we got on so well, from giggles to getting the perfect ootd shot!
Once we arrived (yes 20 minutes early oops) the store was open while we browsed before the rest of the bloggers arrived. Once everyone arrived, the gin came out & I love a good gin so this made me V happy! Along with the gin there was plenty of nibbles and sweets, and hello apple flavour Percy piggies. Hey who doesn’t love free food?
We were then introduced to the team before being set some tasks. The first task for to show spring in your style with Accessorize. For me I struggled. I feel like I have many different styles, from my grunge/rocker look, to my more classy chic looks. I like to mix it up after all! So for me it was about picking that one key item I wanted to expand out into a detailed accessorised look.
As you can see from the flat lay above I went for the snake skin print little clutch bag with a beaut gold chain. This bag is such a cute yet chic little bag which would be perfect to add to a very blank outfit to give it a little somethin’ somethin’. (also the bag is now in the sale for £10!!) Then earrings, I love a good statement earring the add everything to your look. From the little pop of colour to the shinny sparkle that peaks out of your hair. I loved these pearl hoops so much that I purchased them on the night! Then the beret. A trend I’ve not actually tried just yet, but trust me I want to so bad, just don’t feel it’s a piece that fits into my wardrobe. But I thought the hat tied in well with the bag to combine the blush pink tone. Pink is a key colour for me this year I feel, as I step away from my darker tones. (Also the beret is also now on sale too!) And last but not least – glasses, you can’t go wrong with a chic cat shape pair.

Then on to the second challenge! This challenge was all around picking a selection of items for spring for mothers day. I don’t actually have contact with my mom so for me it was again about picking items for my nieces mom. Being young, and being like me I knew she liked black, despite summer she would still wear black. I opted for very simple everyday items such as a backpack, great for everything you need fitting in such as nappies, wipes, food etc. Then practical shoes. Looking after a four year old and a 1.5 year old you need to be practical. And to finish the look I didn’t want it to be completely all black so I added a twist with the added leopard print belt.

The event was so much fun, the opportunity to network, drink gin and create flat lays was my idea of fun for a Wednesday night treat. I’d love to hear what your favourite items were from this post.
